Sayyid Abul A’la Mawdudi (1903-1979) was a leading Islamic scholar, journalist and Pakistani politician. He founded the Jamaat-e-Islami (The Islamic Party) in Pakistan in 1941 and led the party until 1972, when he resigned due to poor health.
